Guidance!

Here's something i just would like to share with all.
Its written by a dancer, i just copied and paste here haha.
Hope somehow we can all reflect on this.
Really got me thinking n i feel now i need to make more effort to being closer to God (:

My eyes drew back to the word Guidance
When I saw "G" I thought of God
followed by "u" & "i"
"God," "u" & "i" dance...
God, you, and I dance!

As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance about my life. Once again, I became willing to let God lead! My prayer for you today is that God's blessings & mercies be upon you on this day & everyday! May you abide in God as God abides in you. Dance together with God, trusting God to lead & guide you through each season of your life as you trust in Him, His Son, His Spirit & His word!

Hear His heart beat, follow the rythym of His word..

Also, i know i've been away from church for awhile now.
For many reasons every week...not happy about it.
Really miss you all so so so much!!!
Have no idea whats going on haha and really spiritually dry /x

Hope to come back regularly soon!!
Miss church n yfers!!!

God Bless n love,

Victories Along The Way
Text: Numbers Chap 21

Introduction:
Numbers 21 is almost as if God is giving a reboot to the nation of Israel. God was teaching the new nation that when they trust Him...

A. There are no Ultimate Defeats (vv1-3)
1. The last time they encountered Hormah was at Num 14:39-45. There they were soundly defeated by the Canaanites. So Hormah came to symbolise failure and defeat.

2. The people learnt to trust God - they cried out to Him for help (v2) and in doing so, God turned what was formerly a place of defeat into a hallmark of His victory (v3).

B. There are no Meaningless Detours (vv4-20)
1. The people complained because they were made to detour Edom. God used a seemingly meaningless detour to surface unfinished business in His people's lives so that He could deal thoroughly with them. Subsequent to this episode, the people learnt their lesson and no longer complained.

2. God also used the solution of this episode (i.e. looking at the bronze serpent) to point proleptically to what his son would do for all mankind in the future (Jn 3:14-15).

C. There are no Insurmountable Difficulties (vv21-35)
1. The Amorites represented what the previous generation considered as unconquerable (Num 13:28-29).

2. This new generation learnt that when they trust God fully there are no insurmountable difficulties.

Conclusion:
God is able to turn our past defeats into present victories, give meaning to our moments and help us conquer seemingly unconquerable difficulties when we trust Him fully.

Proverbs 17:22

A

cheerful heart

is good medicine,

but a

crushed spirit

dries up the bones.
1 Timothy 4:10-12

"... that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the
Savior of all men, and especially for those who believe.
Command and teach these things,
Don't let anyone look down on you
because you are young,
but set an example for the believers
in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity."

It is not enough to talk about faith,
we must live out our faith.
Perhaps that is why apostle Paul,
after giving instruction to his young protege, Timothy
about how to preach, included this reminder:
"Let no one despise your youth,
but be an example to the believers
in word, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity ...
Meditate on these things,
give yourself to them (1 Tim 4:12, 15)

Isaiah 40: 28-31

"Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and His understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall.
But those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles,
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Fathers are special people
(article is taken from "Methodist Message", June 2009)

Fathers are special. They are the role models our sons emulate and sad is the child whose father is not around in his tender years.

My sons have been blessed with a very good father. I thank God for my husband as he truly loves and cares so much for our children. He tries to come home early for dinner with us and always makes it a point to schedule any business travel so as to minimise disruptions to our children's routines.

Nowadays he will read the bible with our younger son, timothy, before he goes to bed. This is followed by some fun reading and then we have a family prayer. I praise the Lord for providing our sons with a father who is willing to opt for a simpler lifestyle and who was agreeable when I wanted to stop working. We trust God to provide for all our needs and He has never failed us.

Our children grow up too fast. The funny thing about boys is that they are mummy's best friends when they are very young and then suddenly, at the age of 10 or 11, they do not want to be seen with me on their way to school.

One day, my son can be holding my hand and the next day, he is walking way ahead of me so that he arrives at the school gate well before me. I believe at this time our sons need their father most.

They started noticing the differences in male and female roles. They have to learn how to protect their loved ones, how to fix problems in the house, especially where lights, printers and computers are concerned, and generally, how to be the heads of their future households, after the lordship of Jesus Christ. They can also do so through interaction with their fathers or a surrogate father figure.

It is very important that fathers spend time with their sons. My husband introduced Timothy to the wonders of fresh water aquarium fish when he decided to keep fish as a hobby. Fathers can do the following acitivities with their sons: swim, cycle, play badminton or chess, go shopping, read, make a pizza or perhaps, watch a good movie and so on. Our sons need to learn how to be men and God has provided them the natural role models in their father.

Hope you guys appreciate your fathers, and love them. May the good Lord continue to bless our fathers.

Courtesy, Manners, and Respect

"Please knock before you barge in," "Open the door for your mom," "Don't interrupt while your sister is talking," "Ask before you use your sister's stuff," "Don't forget to say please and thank you," Sound familiar?

What probably sounds a lot like nagging to you is just your parents' attempt to help you build some good habits. Call them whatever you want... being polite, having good manners, showing respect, being courteous... they're all habits most of us could use a little more of.

One big reason this stuff is important within your family is because the habits of courtesy, manners, respect and politeness are a big deal outside your family too. Have you ever noticed that teachers seem to like the polite kids a little better, and that the players who show more respect to their coach usually get more playing time? As you get older, you'll notice that people who know how to treat others seem have better jobs and make more money. We're not saying this is completely fair; we're just saying that it's the way things seem to work. You're parents know this, too, which is why they make such a big deal about it.

The bible encourages us to treat others the same way we would like to be treated. Isn't it funny how easy it is to be rude, annoying and disrespectful to people in your family? It is not easy, but a good way to develop habits of courtesy, manners, respect and politeness is to practise treating your family the way you want to be treated.

Planting Tomatoes (QT from Upper Room)

What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you came to believe, as the Lord assigned to each. I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth... For we are God's servants, working together. (1 Cor 3:5-8)

Every act we do, we do it to bring glory to God and will bring someone closer to God's grace. God calls us to work in the garden. We can plant or water, whether or not we get to enjoy the harvest. What we need to have is to be faithful to our master, just like people who are ahead of us.

We do not need to feel disappointed, or upset when situation is not getting better. We can continue to trust in God. Do not lean on our own understanding . But in eveything acknowledge him and He will make your path straight.

Prayer:
Lord help us to love and to witness, trusting the result to you. Help us to be faithful despite all difficulties that come along our way.

God will use our work, even though we may never see the results.

Earthwired 09

This is a CAC combined youth event going to happen soon!!!
If you have not watch this clip, pls do so & here's the link.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEDw6slrvGE

Response is really overwhelming... to date there are abt 300 registrations.
It's thru such event, hoping to provide opportunity to connect all CAC youths from the 16 churches.

I'm so amazed by God how He's moved some of the few youths who have dedicated themselves to plan and organise an event like this and now the response is so good.
Of course there is a need for more helpers :(

However, where are the helpers? anybody out there has the time to respond?

I hope to share something that I heard and seen on 26 Feb 09 during the CAC BYM (Board of Youth Ministry) meeting. Just be patient. Coming soon ...

Have a blessed day :D

your act of kindness...

thanks Jamie, convey our thanks to her as well. sometimes i'm wondering how come your mum would treat us so well. she is showing us an act of kindness, out of love, she cares for us because of you. please continue to be the light that shine in your family. i believe your family members will see changes in your life. keep up your good work too.
if you feel tired, stress up, please do not give up.
LOOK to Jesus, HE has shown to his own mankind what's sacrificial love.
To GIVE of himself for the unworthy people like us whom HE calls HIS CHILDREN, the beloved ones, just like the Heavenly Father called Jesus, "this is my beloved", when he was baptised at the Jordon river.

if we look at people with God's len, we will be more empathatic & can see the beauty in everyone & everywhere. we can always give thanks & be a joyful child.

cheers, yulan

CDW session 2 verses

hi guys,
just to share with u all th verses i have used for this week's CDW.
(cos i forgot to share with everyone lol)

Proverbs 12:1
To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction.

Hebrews 12:11
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

1 Peter 1:14 -16
So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”

yups gentle reminder pls do try yr best to rmb th christian part as much as th dancing part afterall th reason for CDW is for your spiritual growth (x
hope u all had fun learning to arm waves today!!! if anyth still can always ask me.

jamie's reply to sixuan

hi guys!!
thanks sixuan fo th support n all th nice stuff.
u're welcome anws, i aim to make cdw fun n useful in our spiritual walk.
also i agree with one part of yr excerpt strongly.....
[Yes it is true. Jesus our Savior is always with us, enabling us to be content no matter what our circumstances. Beacuse of Him, we can be kind even toward those who mistreat us. As we love Him, trust Him, and depend on Him, He will give us strength to do the impossible. ]
yeah indeed i saw God strengthen me to do th impossibles in my life during this month of january!!! n i guess all it really takes is to love Him, trust Him n depend on Him (x

just wanna happily share with u guys that i came out winner for my poppin battle xD n this is a little something i koped out from my blog to share with u all.
i definitely feel i won th battle with God n because of God. without Him, i would be nothing. (ps. dont ask me abt my blog, privated HAHAHA, paiseh)

I have assured you that there would be a reward for your faithfulness. You are now at a place where you can already lift up your eyes and look upon it.
I have prepared this for you, and I have stood beside you through the times of endurance. I have urged you on when you would have given up, because I would not allow you to fail.
Recognize My hand in this. Your work is My work, and I am well able to takecare of every aspect.

this is from one of my daily devotional materials.
th funny thing is i was reading one page a day...when i realised how come im at this date when i havent reached this date in real life???!??
so i checked back today...n realised i missed out 2 pages.
n one of them was recognize My hand. n it made alot of sense to me.
after wat happened. it simply touched my heart so much.
n i think thats wat God wanted to tell me after my poppin battle.
thats wat He wanted to assure me....now n always.

yups love n God bless!!
Jamie.

Today, the very FIRST session of our Christian Dance Workshop (CDW)!!! :D

Hi everyone I'm sixuan (: I read what Jamie typed in the previous post and I agree y'know!! Last time when I was younger, before coming to YF, I used to think of God just as God -really intimidating, and able to just strike me dead anytime he felt like it, like in that Bible story haha. Yknow how there was a pastor who said in one of our services before that we have to see God as a God, a Father, AND a friend? Yeah! I think building such a three-pronged relationship with God means we can feel free to talk to God about EXACTLY what's in our hearts - no need to fake in front of him cos he can read us anyw!

Anyw, this was my quiet time a few days back:

Calvin Johnson was sentenced to life imprisonment after being wrongly convicted of rape. In the courtroom he had said, "God is my witness, I have been falsely accused...I just pray in the name of Jesus Christ that the truth will eventually be brought out". Sixteen years later, in 1999, DNA tests proved him innocent and he was freed. Amazingly, he holds no bitter feelings toward the woman who falsely accused him, the jury that found him guilty, or the judge who sentenced him. Upon his release he said, "Bitterness will destroy you. Now I just need a job."

Yes it is true. Jesus our Savior is always with us, enabling us to be content no matter what our circumstances. Beacuse of Him, we can be kind even toward those who mistreat us. As we love Him, trust Him, and depend on Him, He will give us strength to do the impossible.

Haha also I'd like to say a big WELL DONE! to Jamie here, because CDW today was awesome fun (: It was truly a change I suppose, something new, something refreshing, and I think by the end of these 10 sessions we should have all broken that psychological barrier about dancing that many of us have right now; and I bet in the tenth lesson all of us will not free self-conscious anymore and will be able to let loose (: HOPEFULLY, of course! Haha but anyway YUP so I'd like to say I really enjoyed myself today (: THANKS JAMIE!! :D
Do not wait to feel worthy, for no one is worthy of My Blessings.
My grace bypasses your shortcomings, and I give to My children because they ask of Me and because I love them. I give most liberally to those who ask the most of Me. As you open your heart to Me, I will come to you. As you speak to Me, I will speak to you. As you reveal yourself to Me, I will reveal Myself to you.

Because God accepts us as we are, we are free to accept ourselves.

heys just droppin's some highlights xD
love!!!

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV) says ...

"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning, great is Your faithfulness."
